UK: Leeds Carnegie Ladies Football Team Need Your Help!
Formed in 1989 as Leeds United Ladies the club became part of Leeds Metropolitan University’s Carnegie Faculty of Sport and Education in 2008 Leeds Metropolitan University, who took over the running of the club two years ago, cited financial reasons for not signing up to the Football Association's new league, which kicks off in 2011. The decision could possibly lead to the eventual folding of the club, which features seven England internationals. Earlier this year Leeds Carnegie beat favourites Everton 3-1 to win the 2010 Women's Premier League Cup final and the club was made Club of the Year in the 2010 Leeds Sports Federation Awards. There is a huge passion for football in Leeds and women’s football has real potential to be much bigger but this needs a level of investment that the University is not in a position to provide. Now is the time for any businesses, organisations or individuals who can take the club forward to show their support. Contact the club at their official website http://www.leedscarnegieladies.com/ |
