Gay talk show host Graham Norton has been reprimanded by BBC bosses following a homophobic joke he made about lesbians.
Norton had described an image used during his show as a "'strange lesbian", when challenged by one of his guests as to what a lesbian looked like, he had gestured toward the image and said "That".
Having investigated a complaint made by a viewer the BBC warned the presenter about "reinforcing a potentially offensive stereotype".
A statement from the BBC said 'while the initial comment might have been inoffensive it was repeating them that was wrong'.
Norton is expected to sign a new contract to stay with the BBC despite this incident.
