US president Barak Obama has reiterated his plans to end the discriminative ban on lesbians and gays in the US military.

Despite the president reaffirming his pledge to end the ban on homosexuals serving 'openly' in the Armed Forces, he acknowledge that change may not come about as soon as expected.

Obama was warmly received by an audience of around 3;000 at a fundraising dinner of the Human Rights Campaign on Saturday 9th October 09.

The US president is working with Congressional and Pentagon officials to end the controversial law which was passed by Congress in 1993.
