Washington Dc councillor David Catania has announced that he will be introducing lesbian and gay Marriage Equality legislation on October 6th 2009.
However there is growing concern that moderate Democrats and socially conservative Republicans will seek to overturn the Bill.
Already there have been calls from Religopolitical groups for voters to demand their Representatives and US senators oppose the move to recognise civil marriages in the US capital.
