Adam Lambert: I was once ashamed of being gay Singer and American Idol runner up Adam Lambert has admitted that he was once “ashamed” of being gay. The admission comes following revelations earlier this week that he has no plans to marry in the future. In his interview for VH1’s Behind the Music, Lambert discussed his denial of being gay in school and the feeling that he was different from other boys. The openly gay pop artist explained: “I think when I was in about sixth grade, that’s when I first realized that I was probably not the same as the other boys.” He adds: “I think at that age it was something that I was ashamed of, because it was so different. No one talks about that in school and that’s one of the things that’s so hard about being a young person and realizindg that you’re gay, or bi, pr whatever. We’re not told that that’s okay.” In an interview with US weekly, on Tuesday, the 29-year-old admitted: “I don’t see myself getting married in the future.” However, he says he feels “more comfortable” to comment on issues such as marriage equality and the legalisation of same-sex marriage in New York. Lambert’s next album is due out later this year. Buy other Adam Lambert music from Amazon.co.uk. |
