A second man has been jailed for the rape and murder of one of South Africa’s most prominent sports stars – the footballer Eudy Simelane. She was attacked by a gang. Many believe the assault was a hate crime, sparked by the fact that Simelane was one of very few women in South Africa to live openly as a lesbian. The case has received a lot of media coverage in the country - but has it changed attitudes to gay people, especially lesbians?
